Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 31/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system east of Tasmania will drift east over the Tasman Sea during the weekend. Meanwhile, a broad, low pressure complex will lie over inland Victoria and New South Wales. The low is likely to be near eastern Bass Strait on Monday then move east of Tasmania on Tuesday as a cold front crosses waters south of the Bight. This front will move through southern Victoria on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayArea of rain gradually easing during the afternoon and tending to isolated showers. Further rain areas developing over east Gippsland during the late afternoon and evening. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms near the northern border and far east Gippsland. Cool to mild with generally light winds tending moderate east to southeasterly near the coast.Monday 2 JuneScattered showers over the southeast and near the central coast. Isolated showers elsewhere near and south of the ranges with the chance of afternoon showers over the northwest. A cool to mild day with light to moderate south to southwesterly winds tending east to southeasterly about the South Gippsland and Central coasts.Tuesday 3 JuneIsolated showers near and south of the ranges contracting to the northeast during the evening, although scattered showers re-developing about the southwest coast at night. A cool to mild day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds, locally fresh about the coastal fringe.Wednesday 4 JuneIsolated showers in southern and mountain districts, contracting eastwards in the afternoon and evening.
