MELBOURNE - May 30/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation An area of high pressure will move slowly eastwards across the Tasman Sea over the next few days. A trough over far southwestern Queensland will move slowly eastwards across the interior of the state during the weekend and become slow moving over the southeastern interior early next week. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers about the east coast and adjacent inland, more frequent about parts of the central coast and north tropical coast. Showers will also become more frequent about the southeast coast with isolated showers extending inland into the southeast interior. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will develop over the state's southern interior. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds, fresh at times about the coast. A moderate south to southwest change will spread to far western areas during the day.Sunday 1 JuneThe surface trough should continue to move slowly eastwards across the interior, producing scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the southern and southeast interior. Mainly isolated showers over the remainder of the eastern districts. Fine and mostly sunny in the west of the state with cooler temperatures in the southwest.Monday 2 JuneThe trough should stall over the southeast interior with a humid air persisting over eastern districts. Isolated showers about eastern districts, mainly about the coast and also about the southeast interior in association with the trough. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible about the southern border ranges. Fine and mostly sunny over the western half of the state.Tuesday 3 JuneA new high should move across southeast Australia, maintaining an onshore flow and mainly isolated showers over Queensland's eastern districts. Another upper trough may lead to more frequent showers about the southeast of the state but there remains some uncertainty about this. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.Wednesday until FridayThe new high should continue to push some showers across the eastern districts through the outlook period, particularly in the tropics.
