Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 30/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system east of Tasmania will drift east over the Tasman Sea during the weekend. Meanwhile, a low pressure system over the Bight will move across South Australia to southern New South Wales on Saturday, crossing southeastern New South Wales on Sunday. The low is likely to be near eastern Bass Strait on Monday before weakening on Tuesday as a cold front crosses waters south of the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayEarly morning fog patches inland. Rain areas and isolated thunderstorms gradually extending from the northwest across northern districts. Only patchy rain reaching southern Victoria and Gippsland in the late afternoon and evening. Mild in the east, cooler in the west with light to moderate northeasterly winds.Sunday 1 JuneArea of rain and isolated thunderstorms over the north and far east, tending more patchy in the south. Rain easing to the chance of showers in the west during the afternoon then contracting to the east at night. Cool to mild with generally light to moderate northeast winds tending south to southeasterly in the west.Monday 2 JuneScattered showers over the southeast and near the central coast. Isolated showers elsewhere near and south of the ranges with the chance of afternoon showers over the northwest. A cool to mild day with light to moderate south to southwesterly winds tending east to southeasterly about the South Gippsland and Central coasts.Tuesday 3 JuneIsolated showers near and south of the ranges contracting to the northeast during the evening, although isolated showers re-developing about the southwest coast at night. A cool to mild day with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds, locally fresh about the coastal fringe.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday.Product IDV10310
