MELBOURNE - May 30/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge into central New South Wales, while a trough lies off the coast. Another, more significant trough over South Australia will reach western New South Wales late tonight or early Saturday, bringing widespread rain to the region before shifting to the Tasman Sea later on Sunday. Following this, the next high pressure system is expected to move across from the west, restoring settled weather to most areas early in the new week. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers near the coast, increasing at night and possibly extending to eastern parts of the tablelands. Late rain developing in the far west. Fine elsewhere. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Saturday 31 MayRain areas and possible thunderstorms in the west, extending to central districts during the day with moderate falls expected in the evening. Scattered showers about the coast and ranges, more likely along the coastal fringe. Early fog patches in the east, mainly on the tablelands. East to northeasterly winds, freshening on the southern coast, and turning northwesterly in the west during the afternoon/evening.Sunday 1 JuneRain areas and possible thunderstorms over the eastern half, easing during the day. Snow showers developing about higher parts of the Alps. Isolated showers in the southwest. Fine and partly cloudy in the northwest. North to northeasterly winds in the northeast, and northwest to southwesterly winds extending across the remainder.Monday 2 JuneIsolated showers in the south and east, scattered at first about western slopes of the ranges. Snow showers about higher parts of the Alps. Fine and partly cloudy in the northwest. Morning fog patches. Northwest to southwesterly windsTuesday 3 JuneIsolated showers in the southeast, mainly on western slopes of the tablelands, possibly falling as snow about the Alpine peaks.
