MELBOURNE - May 29/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure over Victoria will move just to the southeast of Victoria today as a low pressure system develops in the Bight. The low will track eastwards across southeastern Australia during the weekend then move into the Tasman Sea during Monday, as a weak ridge develops over western Victoria. Forecast for the rest of FridayMorning fog patches then a fine, partly cloudy day, apart from isolated showers in far east Gippsland. Patchy rain entering the far northwest towards midnight. Generally mild with light east to northeasterly winds.Saturday 31 MayRain areas and isolated thunderstorms gradually extending from the northwest across remaining northern districts. Only patchy rain reaching southern Victoria and Gippsland later in the day and during the evening. Early morning fog patches in Gippsland. A cool and mostly cloudy day with light to moderate northeasterly winds.Sunday 1 JunePatchy rain contracting to the south and east. Isolated showers remaining in central and western areas, clearing the far northwest. Cool with generally light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.Monday 2 JuneScattered showers through the southeast and near the central coast. Isolated showers over the rest of the State, although dry and partly cloudy in the northwest.
