MELBOURNE - May 29/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system lies over the southern Tasman Sea, while a trough moves northwards along the coast. Another, more significant trough in the Bight will reach western New South Wales late Friday or early Saturday, bringing widespread rain to the region before shifting to the Tasman Sea later on Sunday. Another high pressure system is expected to move across from the west after this, restoring settled weather to most areas for the start of the new week. Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers over all coastal districts and the eastern ranges, increasing to rain along the Far South Coast. Rain also developing in the far west tonight. Early fog patches in the east. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Saturday 31 MayRain areas and possible thunderstorms in the west, extending to central districts during the day. Scattered showers about the coast and ranges, more widespread about the coastal fringe. Early fog patches about the tablelands. East to northeasterly winds, freshening on the southern coast, and turning northwesterly in the west later.Sunday 1 JuneRain areas and possible thunderstorms over the eastern half, easing during the day. Isolated showers in the southwest. Fine in the northwest. North to northeasterly winds in the northeast, and northwest to southwesterly winds extending across the remainder.Monday 2 JuneIsolated showers in the south and east, scattered at first about western slopes of the ranges. Fine in the northwest.
