Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 28/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A front over the Tasman Sea is moving steadily to the east, with a weak high pressure ridge over New South Wales. Another trough is currently near Bass Strait, and will affect the coastal fringe during Thursday, before the high strengthens and moves over the Tasman Sea on Friday. An upper level low and surface trough are expected to be the next major weather systems to affect NSW, crossing the state from the west over the weekend, with an associated slow moving rain-band.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers over the Alpine area in the early morning. Isolated showers developing along parts of the coastal fringe during the day. Some late drizzle possible about parts of the eastern ranges. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Morning fog areas, chiefly for the southern and central inland. Light winds inland, with a fresh southerly change extending along the coast.Friday 30 MayScattered showers developing along the coast with more isolated showers on the eastern ranges. Isolated showers developing in the far southwest at night. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Light northeast to southeast winds.Saturday 31 MayRain areas extending across western and central parts of the state. Scattered showers about the coast and ranges. The chance of thunderstorms west of the ranges. East to northeast winds.Sunday 1 JuneRain areas over the eastern half. The chance of thunderstorms over the west slopes and plains. Isolated showers in the west. Northeast winds tending southwesterly in the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDN10031
