MELBOURNE - May 28/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A front over the Tasman Sea is moving steadily to the east, with a weak high pressure ridge over NSW. Another front and trough lie near and south of Tasmania, the trough is expected to affect the coastal fringe on Thursday before winds tend southeast on Friday and isolated showers extend to the eastern ranges. An upper level low and surface trough are expected to be the next major weather systems to affect NSW, crossing the state from the west over the weekend, with a slow moving rain-band associated. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and drizzle patches about the western slopes of the southern ranges, light snow on the higher peaks of the Alps. Dry, mostly sunny remainder. West to northwesterly winds, fresh and gusty in the southeast but easing this evening.Thursday 29 MayIsolated showers over the Alpine area in the early morning. Isolated showers developing along the coastal fringe during the day. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Morning fog areas, chiefly for the southern and central inland. Light winds inland, with a fresh southerly change extending along the coast.Friday 30 MayIsolated showers along the coast and the adjacent ranges. Isolated showers developing in the far southwest at night. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Light northeast to southeast winds.Saturday 31 MayRain areas extending across western and central parts of the state. Isolated showers in the east. The chance of thunderstorms west of the ranges. East to northeast winds.Sunday 1 JuneRain areas over the eastern half. Isolated showers in the west.
