MELBOURNE - May 26/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system crossing south of the Bight has an associated cold front that will cross Victoria during Tuesday. Another low pressure system will develop over the Bight on Wednesday but will remain to the west of Adelaide during Thursday and Friday as a weak ridge of high pressure moves across Victoria. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers developing over the far west in the evening and tending to areas of rain at night with the chance of thunderstorms over the far northwest. Moderate northerly winds freshening about the ranges and parts of the west.Tuesday 27 MayAreas of rain contracting to the east by the afternoon with heavy falls developing over the northeast. Scattered showers over remaining districts following the rain. Isolated thunderstorms. Mild with moderate to fresh northerly winds, strong to gale force about elevated areas and tending northwesterly during the day.Wednesday 28 MayEarly rain in the east. Isolated showers otherwise, contracting to the ranges and the southwest during the evening. Snow falls possible about the Alpine peaks during the morning. Morning fog patches. A cool to mild day with mainly moderate northwesterly winds.Thursday 29 MayIsolated showers, mainly about the coastal fringe and about the eastern ranges. A cool to mild day with light to moderate northwesterly winds.Friday 30 MayMorning fog patches in the south and east. Isolated showers about the far east Gippsland coast clearing by the afternoon. Isolated showers and the chance of thunderstorms developing in the west during the afternoon and evening.
