Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 25/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge extends from eastern New South Wales to the southern Tasman Sea, maintaining generally stable weather conditions over the state today. The ridge will drift further east overnight as a trough and associated cold front approach from the west. This frontal system is expected to bring wet and windy conditions as it moves through southern and western districts during Tuesday, weakening as it shifts to the northeast on Wednesday. Behind this, a new high pressure system is forecast to briefly restore mostly fine weather on Thursday before the next trough generates unsettled conditions at the end of the week.
Forecast for the rest of MondayFine apart from the chance of showers near the coast in the north, and a little rain near the South Australian border at night. Areas of morning fog in the east. Partly cloudy. Northeast to northwesterly winds, freshening in the west during the afternoon.Tuesday 27 MayRain in the west, extending across the central and southern inland during the day, with the chance of thunderstorms. A little rain reaching the southern coast at night. Clearing in the west later. Fine and partly cloudy in the northeast. North to northwesterly winds, becoming fresh to strong and gusty in the south and west. A westerly wind shift in the west during the afternoon and evening.Wednesday 28 MayIsolated showers in the east, mainly on the ranges and adjacent western slopes, tending scattered near the Victorian border. Snow showers on the Alpine peaks. Possible early thunderstorms in the southeast. Fine and partly cloudy in the west. West to northwesterly winds extending throughout, fresh and gusty in the east.Thursday 29 MayFine apart from the chance showers in the far northeast and southeast. Mostly sunny.
