Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 24/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge over the State will move eastwards tonight as a weakening trough approaches western Victoria. The trough will move eastwards across the State on Sunday as a high pressure system develops over the Tasman Sea. The high in the Tasman will strengthen on Monday as a cold front approaches from the west. The front will cross the State on Tuesday, then another front will approach western Victoria late Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayMostly dry. Isolated showers developing in the north and west. Isolated thunderstorms possible in the southwest tonight. Partly cloudy with generally light north to northwesterly winds.Sunday 25 MayMorning fog patches in the east. Isolated showerscontracting southeastwards during the morning and clearing later. Mild and partly cloudy with light to moderate north to northwesterly winds.Monday 26 MayCloud increasing with rain developing areas extending from the southwest. Early fog patches over the east. A cool to mild day with mainly light to moderate northerly winds.Tuesday 27 MayA band of rain crossing the State with scattered showers to follow. Isolated thunderstorms. Snow falls possible above 1700 metres. Mild with moderate to fresh northerly winds, strong about Alpine areas, shifting colder west to northwesterly late in the day.Wednesday 28 MayIsolated showers, contracting to the eastern ranges and the southwest during the evening. Snow falls possible above 1700 metres. A cool to mild day mainly moderate northwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Sunday.Product IDV10310
