Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 24/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure will remain over the north of the State as a series of fronts move over the south during the coming week.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayPossible isolated showers about southern coasts and the Lower South East, and during the afternoon east of the Mt Lofty Ranges. Possible isolated evening thunderstorms over Kangaroo Island. Mild to warm with light to moderate north to northwesterly winds.Sunday 25 MayEarly fog patches over the agricultural area. Isolated morning drizzle over the South East and Mount Lofty Ranges districts. Patchy rain and possible isolated thunderstorms extending from the west during the afternoon, reaching a line from about Ernabella to Whyalla to Kingscote late evening. Rain increasing to areas of rain northwest of Tarcoola. Mild to warm in the south, hot in the north with moderate northwest to northeasterly winds, fresh at times in the west and over the agricultural area.Monday 26 MayPatchy rain extending east to reach about Leigh Creek to Lameroo by late evening, and clearing west of about Coober Pedy to Kingscote by midnight. Rain gradually increasing to areas of rain. Isolated showers persisting over the agricultural area and the West Coast district following the rain, scattered near southern coasts. Possible early thunderstorms in the south, and persisting northwest of Coober Pedy. Warm grading to hot in the far north, but cooler in rain areas. Moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds, shifting light to moderate westerly in the west.Tuesday 27 MayPatchy rain east of about Coober Pedy to Kingscote contracting east and clearing by about midday. Isolated showers persisting over the agricultural area, scattered over the southern agricultural area in the morning, clearing over the northern agricultural area in the evening. Cool to mild with moderate northwest to southwesterly winds, fresh at times in the south.Wednesday 28 MayIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area and western coasts, mostly clearing in the afternoon. Scattered showers developing near southern coasts late afternoon or evening. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, fresh at times in the south. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday afternoon to midnight Wednesday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm in patchy rain, increasing to 10 to 30 mm with areas of rain. Less than 2 mm is expected in the far northeast of the State and also west of about Nullarbor.Thursday until SaturdayIsolated showers over the agricultural area and south of the Pastoral districts, scattered over the southern agricultural area. Showers contracting south to be confined to southern coasts and the Lower South East on Saturday. Mostly cool with mainly moderate north to northwesterly winds, shifting southwesterly from the west during the day, then becoming moderate southwest to southeasterly on Friday and Saturday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Sunday.Product IDS10033
