Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 22/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over New South Wales will move slowly eastwards. A middle level trough and associated cloud band will move eastwards over central and southeastern parts of the State this evening. A weak front will move over the southeast of the State later tonight and early Friday. A stronger front will move over the South Australia on Monday and Tuesday next week.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine over the Flinders, Mid North and Riverland districts and also over southern parts of the North East Pastoral district otherwise isolated showers, scattered at times over the southeast. Possible isolated thunderstorms over the Northwest and the north of the Northeast Pastoral districts. Moderate north to northwesterly winds becoming light and variable in the evening.Friday 23 MayMorning fog patches over the west. Isolated morning showers in the northeast with possible early thunder. Isolated showers south and east of about Woomera, contracting east during the day and clearing during the evening. Possible thunderstorms developing on and east of the Mt Lofty Ranges in the afternoon. Mild to warm with light to moderate north to northwest winds.Saturday 24 MayMorning fog patches. Possible isolated showers developing over the Lower South East district during the afternoon. Mild to warm in the south, hot in the north. Light to moderate northerly winds, shifting westerly in the far west during the day.Sunday 25 MayIsolated morning showers about the Lower South East district. Patchy rain extending from the west during the afternoon, to reach a line from Coober Pedy to Keith by evening. Mild to warm in the south, hot in the north with moderate northwest to northerly winds, shifting westerly in the far west during the afternoon and evening.Monday 26 MayPatchy rain extending east to reach about Broken Hill to Oodnadatta by late evening and clearing from west of Coober Pedy to Keith. Isolated showers following the rain over the agricultural area, West Coast district and the southern Northwest Pastoral district. Mild in the south, warm in the north. Northerly winds, shifting westerly in the west during the day. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday afternoon to midnight Monday are expected to be less than 2 mm in the far northeast and Nullarbor Plain, 2 to 10 mm over the remainder increasing to 10 to 20 mm over Eyre Peninsula and central and eastern districts west of Keith to Woomera.Tuesday until ThursdayPatchy rain over the eastern districts clearing during Tuesday morning. Isolated showers over the agricultural areas, scattered about the southern agricultural area on Tuesday, easing during the remainder of the period and contracting southwards. Cool to mild with moderate northwest to westerly winds, fresh at times about the coasts, turning west to southwesterly during Thursday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Friday.Product IDS10033
