MELBOURNE - May 22/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high over the Tasman Sea extends a broad ridge over New South Wales. A cold front crossing the Southern Ocean is expected to reach the far south coast Friday night and move along the coast on Saturday, bringing a brief southerly change. By Sunday the high should be centred over the north coast with variable winds tending northerly again in the south. As the high moves across the Tasman Sea on Monday an increasing northerly airstream is expected across the state ahead of a cold front reach the west on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayChance of isolated showers on the far north coast and on the Alps. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Northeast to northwest winds.Friday 23 MayIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Isolated showers over the southern half, more likely on the southwest slopes of the ranges. Early fog patches on the ranges. West to northwest winds. A southerly change on the far south coast in the late afternoon or evening.Saturday 24 MayFine along most of the coast and in the northwest. Chance of isolated showers over the ranges and western slopes, more likely on the southwest slopes. Areas of morning fog. Light and variable winds inland, with southerly winds extending along the coast.Sunday 25 MayIsolated showers on the southwest slopes of the ranges. Fine elsewhere. Variable winds tending northerly in the south.Monday 26 MayFine over most districts. Showers developing in the far west late in the day.
