MELBOURNE - May 21/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A near-stationary high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is extending a ridge over northern New South Wales, while a weak front brought a southerly change to southern and central coastal areas this morning. The ridge will remain the main feature over New South Wales for the remainder of the week, then another frontal system may affect southern parts of the state late on Friday or during Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayChance of isolated showers along the far north coast later. Fine elsewhere. South to southeast winds extending along the north coast, tending northwest to northeast elsewhere.Thursday 22 MayChance of isolated showers on the far north coast and on the Alps. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Areas of morning fog. Northeast to northwest winds.Friday 23 MayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the northeast, and also over the southern half, more likely on the southwest slopes of the ranges. West to northwest winds.Saturday 24 MayFine in the far north and northwest. Chance of isolated showers over much of the remainder, more likely on the southwest slopes of the ranges. Light and variable winds inland, with southerly winds extending along the coast.Sunday 25 MayChance of isolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere. South to southwest winds extending along the coast.
