MELBOURNE - May 20/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak front is moving east through Bass Strait as a high develops over the Bight today. The high will then move steadily east to be centred over the Tasman Sea later Wednesday. A middle level trough and associated cloud band will move eastwards over the State during Wednesday and Thursday. A front will move over southern parts of the State early next week. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayArea of cloud with isolated showers and the chance of isolated thunderstorms northeast of about Streaky Bay to Renmark, contracting to the northwest of the State during the evening. Isolated showers about the Lower South East. Fine over the remainder. Mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Light winds, shifting light to moderate southwest to southeasterly over the agricultural area and west coast.Wednesday 21 MayEarly fog patches in the southeast. Isolated showers about the western border, extending to west of Coober Pedy to Cape Borda by evening and increasing to scattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms west of Ernabella to Ceduna. Mild to warm with light to moderate northeast to northerly winds.Thursday 22 MayScattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms west of a line Woomera to Renmark, clearing from the far west. Fine northeast of Oodnadatta to Broken Hill. Isolated showers over the remainder. Mild to warm with moderate north to northwesterly winds.Friday 23 MayIsolated showers south and east of about Woomera, contracting further southeast during the day. Mild to warm with light to moderate north to northwest winds.Saturday 24 MayPossible isolated showers over Riverland and Mid North, clearing during the day. Fine elsewhere. Mild to warm in the south, hot in the north. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday to midnight Saturday are expected to be less than 2 mm northeast of a line Ernabella to Woomera to Renmark, increasing to 2 to 10 mm over the remainder with possible falls of 10 to 15 mm in the Lower South East and the far northwest.Sunday until TuesdayFine and warm to hot with moderate northerly winds on Sunday with isolated showers developing in the west later in the day. Isolated showers extending from the west during Monday with a westerly wind change.
