MELBOURNE - May 20/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow moving high pressure system is over the Tasman Sea. A cold front will reach southwestern Victoria this morning before crossing the State reaching the northeast at night. A weak high pressure system will quickly cross Victoria on Wednesday, reaching the Tasman Sea on Thursday, whilst another cold front approaches southwest Victoria later in the day. Another weak ridge of high pressure will reach western Victoria later Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers in southern and mountain districts, scattered at times near the coast and over the eastern ranges, mostly clearing at night. Isolated showers over the north contracting eastwards during the afternoon and evening. Morning fog patches. Mild to warm at first with light to moderate northwesterly winds but a cooler west to southwesterly change in the southwest during the late morning before extending eastwards during the afternoon and evening.Wednesday 21 MayIsolated showers clearing from the northeast and near the coast during the early morning. Otherwise fine apart from morning fog patches. Mild and partly cloudy with light winds tending northerly in the west.Thursday 22 MayMorning fog patches in the east. Scattered showers developing over southern and mountain districts tending isolated over the northern plains and East Gippsland. Remaining dry over the far north. A mild and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting west to southwesterly.Friday 23 MayScattered showers mainly over southern and mountain districts contracting to the east during the day. Isolated showers clearing later in the west and mainly fine in the Mallee.
