Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 13/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over southeast Australia is expected to drift slowly across the Tasman Sea. The high should maintain a ridge along Queensland's east coast throughout the rest of the week and into the weekend. An upper trough over western Queensland will weaken as it drifts eastwards during the rest of the week.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayThe high in the Tasman Sea should work with the weakening upper trough to produce scattered showers with some local thunder over Queensland's eastern districts, extending into the northern interior during the afternoon. Dry and mostly sunny over the remainder of the state. Moderate to fresh south to southeast winds along the east coast, and mainly moderate southeast to northeast winds elsewhere.Thursday 15 MayThe upper trough should drift towards the east coast and it, along with a persistent onshore flow, should maintain isolated to scattered showers about the eastern districts, with a chance of storms about the southeast and northeast. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder of the state.Friday 16 MayThe high in the Tasman Sea should continue to push isolated to scattered showers across the eastern districts. Fine and mostly sunny over the interior.Saturday 17 MayThe high is likely to remain over the Tasman Sea and will continue to push showers across Queensland's eastern districts. Remaining fine and mostly sunny over the interior.Sunday until TuesdayA high pressure system in the Tasman should maintain showers about Queensland's eastern districts and fine and mostly sunny conditions over the interior.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Wednesday.Product IDQ10700
