Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 12/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over Victoria extends a ridge up Australia's east coast. The high should drift into the Tasman Sea during Tuesday and will maintain the ridge and a moist onshore wind flow along Queensland's east coast throughout the week. An upper trough lies over western Queensland and is expected to strengthen while moving east across the state during Tuesday and Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated to scattered showers about the state's far east, and over the southern interior. Fine and clear elsewhere. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds along the east coast, and mainly moderate southeast to northeast winds elsewhere.Tuesday 13 MayMainly scattered showers and the chance of some thunderstorms about the state's far east, with showers more frequent and widespread about the North Tropical Coast. Isolated showers about the southern and central interior, and isolated storms about the northern interior. Fine and mostly sunny through western Queensland. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds along the east coast, and mainly moderate southeast to northeast winds elsewhere.Wednesday 14 MayThe high in the Tasman Sea should work with the weakening upper trough to produce scattered showers with some local thunder over Queensland's eastern districts, extending into the northern interior during the afternoon. Dry and mostly sunny over the remainder of the state.Thursday 15 MayThe upper trough should drift towards the east coast and it, along with a persistent onshore flow, should maintain mainly scattered showers about the eastern districts with just the chance of some isolated storms as well, extending into the eastern interior during the day. Dry and fine over the remainder of the state.Friday 16 MayThe high in the Tasman should continue to push mainly scattered showers across the eastern districts. Fine and mostly sunny over the interior.Saturday until MondayThe high is likely to remain over the Tasman Sea and will continue to push showers across Queensland's eastern districts.
