Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 8/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A firm ridge extends across Queensland from a strong high near Tasmania. The high is expected to move slowly northeastwards and weaken over the next few days, before the next high moves across southeastern Australia and reinforces the ridge over Queensland. A weak upper trough will enter southern Queensland over the weekend, gradually strengthening is it remains slow-moving over the southern and central interior early next week.
Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers for most of the east coast. Cloud increasing over southwestern Queensland, with patchy light rain possible late in the day. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Light to moderate south to southeast winds, fresh to strong about parts of the east coast.Saturday 10 MayA firm ridge will persist along the Queensland east coast with isolated showers expected for far eastern Queensland. The next upper level trough should extend some cloud over the southern interior, though little or no rain is expected. Fine and mostly sunny across the remainder of the state.Sunday 11 MayA firm ridge should be maintained over eastern Queensland with isolated showers continuing for coastal areas, tending scattered along the North Tropical Coast. The upper level trough will strengthen slightly, generating cloudy areas and some isolated showers over the southern and southeastern interiorMonday 12 MayA firm ridge should be maintained over eastern Queensland as the next high pushes into the Tasman Sea. The onshore flow will lead to isolated showers along coastal areas of Queensland. An upper level trough through southern Queensland will generate isolated showers for the southeast and southern interior, with thunderstorms a possibility about the Granite Belt.Tuesday until ThursdayThe high is expected to remain over the Tasman Sea, generating mainly isolated showers along the Queensland east coast in the onshore flow. The upper level trough will continue moving slowly across southern Queensland, most likely moving and off the coast mid to late next week. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms are likely to develop as a result over parts of the interior on Tuesday, before contracting to eastern districts on Wednesday.
