Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 8/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A large high pressure system over Tasmania will move slowly eastwards on Thursday while extending a ridge northwards over Victoria and New South Wales. The high will move into the Tasman Sea on Friday as a weakening cold front approaches from the Bight. The front will move across Victoria on Saturday while another high pressure system develops over the Bight. The high will strengthen on Sunday as it moves across Victoria.
Forecast for the rest of FridayCloudy in western and central areas extending throughout during the morning. Local early frost and fog patches in the east. Isolated showers developing in the west during the morning and extending to central districts at night. Showers tending to patchy rain in the evening. A generally mild day with moderate to fresh northerly winds.Saturday 10 MayCloudy. Areas of rain contracting to the east during the afternoon with isolated showers to follow, clearing from the northwest during the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the southwest during the afternoon. Cool to mild with moderate north to northwesterly winds shifting westerly over western and central districts.Sunday 11 MayMorning fog patches inland. Rain areas in the far east clearing during the early morning. Isolated showers over southern districts, mainly near the coast, clearing by late afternoon. A mild day with light to moderate south to southwesterly winds.Monday 12 MayFine and mostly sunny apart from isolated showers over east Gippsland.
