MELBOURNE - May 8/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high is centred over the Tasman Sea. A front near Ceduna will extend over central parts of the State today, reaching the southeast early on Saturday. A ridge of high pressure will extend across South Australia on Saturday, and persist into next week. Forecast for the rest of FridayAreas of rain over central districts moving east over eastern districts by about midday. Patchy rain extending over the Northwest Pastoral district and eastern districts. The rain will contract east to be confined to the Northeast Pastoral district by tonight. Showers will persist over the West Coast district and agricultural areas following the band of rain, clearing from the west during in the afternoon. Possible late evening thunderstorms over the Lower Eyre Peninsula and southern coastal areas. Cool to mild. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, strong at times over the coastal waters, ahead of a cooler southwesterly change extending over western districts during the day, reaching Yorke Peninsula around midnight.Saturday 10 MayPatchy morning rain over the North East Pastoral district. Scattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms about southern coastal areas easing to isolated showers in the afternoon. Isolated showers over the remainder of the agricultural area clearing during the afternoon. Generally mild. Light to moderate westerly winds over agricultural areas, tending southwest to southeasterly in the north.Sunday 11 MayFine apart from possible isolated showers over southern agricultural areas until late afternoon or evening. Generally mild to warm with mainly light winds.Monday 12 May Fine apart from possible isolated showers over southern agricultural areas until late afternoon or evening. Generally mild to warm with mainly light winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday morning to midnight Monday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm, increasing to 5 to 10 mm over the agricultural area, east of Yorke Peninsula. Isolated falls of up to 15 mm are possible, mainly about southern coasts and ranges. Less than 2 mm is expected in the far northeast and in the west. Tuesday until ThursdayFine apart from possible isolated showers about the southern coasts on Wednesday with the passage of a weakening front.
