MELBOURNE - May 8/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high near Tasmania will move slowly eastwards to be centred over the Tasman Sea on Friday. A front will move over the western border later today then extend over central parts during Friday, reaching the southeast early on Saturday. A ridge of high pressure will extend across South Australia on Saturday, and persist into next week. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayPatchy rain in the west extending eastwards to reach about Coober Pedy to Woomera to Kingscote late this evening, increasing to areas of rain west of about Tarcoola to Port Lincoln by late evening. Possible isolated thunderstorms developing west of about Ceduna. Cool to mild overnight. Moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, fresh at times over western districts.Friday 9 MayAreas of rain moving across the State during the morning to reach about Renmark to Coober Pedy by midday. Patchy rain extending further east over the North East Pastoral district west of about Moomba. The rain will clear from the west during the day, but showers will persist over the West Coast district and agricultural areas following the band of rain. Possible early morning thunder in the west, then possible late evening thunderstorms over the Lower Eyre Peninsula and southern coastal areas. Cool to mild. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, strong at times over the coastal waters, ahead of a cooler southwesterly change extending over western districts during the day, reaching Yorke Peninsula around midnight.Saturday 10 MayPatchy morning rain over the North East Pastoral district. Scattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms about southern coastal areas easing to isolated showers in the afternoon. Isolated showers over the remainder of the agricultural area clearing during the afternoon. Generally mild. Light to moderate westerly winds over agricultural areas, tending southwest to southeasterly in the north.Sunday 11 MayFine apart from possible isolated showers over southern agricultural areas until late afternoon or evening. Generally mild to warm with mainly light winds.Monday 12 May Fine apart from possible isolated showers over southern agricultural areas until late afternoon or evening. Generally mild to warm with mainly light winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday afternoon to midnight Monday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm, increasing to 10 to 20 mm over much of the southern agricultural, particularly about the coasts and ranges. Less than 2 mm is expected in the far northeast. Tuesday until ThursdayFine apart from possible isolated showers about the southern coasts on Wednesday with the passage of a weakening front.
