MELBOURNE - May 7/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A large high pressure system centred over Tasmania will move slowly eastwards on Thursday while extending a ridge north over Victoria and New South Wales. The high will move into the Tasman Sea on Friday as a weakening cold front approaches from the Bight. The front will move across Victoria on Saturday while another high pressure system develops over the Bight. The high will strengthen on Sunday and move slowly towards Bass Strait. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayEarly morning fog and frost inland then a fine, mild and sunny day. Light winds tending moderate north to northeasterly over western and central districts.Friday 9 MayCloud increasing. Local early frost in the east. Areas of rain developing in the west during the afternoon and evening with isolated showers extending to central districts during the evening. A generally mild day with moderate to fresh northerly winds.Saturday 10 MayCloudy. Areas of rain contracting to the east during the afternoon with isolated showers to follow, clearing from the northwest during the afternoon. Mild with moderate north to northwesterly winds shifting westerly over western and central districts. y.Sunday 11 MayIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts, mostly clearing during the late afternoon.
