MELBOURNE - May 6/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high is drifting eastwards south of Victoria. An upper level trough lies over Queensland's southern interior, and is expected to strengthen a little during Thursday before moving off the southeast coast on Friday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine though partly cloudy across the state except for some isolated showers about Cape York Peninsula and the southeast coast. Light to moderate south to southeast winds.Thursday 8 MayAn upper level trough should move eastwards across the southern interior, while a high near Tasmania pushes somewhat more humid air across Queensland's southeast. Both weather systems should combine to produce mainly isolated showers and possibly some storms over the southeast, more widespread near the coast. Fine and mostly sunny across the remainder of the state except for some isolated showers over the northern tropics in an onshore flow.Friday 9 MayThe upper level trough should move off the southeast coast eliminating any further potential for storms across Queensland. The high should drift into the Tasman Sea and will push some mainly isolated showers across Queensland's east coast. Another upper trough over central Australia should produce some cloud over the Channel Country, but with little or no rain. Fine and mostly sunny across the remainder of the state.Saturday 10 MayThe high should move slowly eastwards across the Tasman Sea, pushing some isolated showers across Queensland's east coast. The new upper level trough should extend some cloud over the southern interior, though little or no rain is expected. Fine and mostly sunny across the remainder of the state.Sunday until TuesdayThe high should remain over the Tasman Sea and will continue to push mainly isolated showers across Queensland's east coast. Another upper level trough might produce some mainly light showers across the southern interior as it passes over the region.
