MELBOURNE - May 5/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high in the Southern Ocean extends a ridge of over eastern Australia. The high is expected to strengthen before moving into the Tasman Sea towards the end of the week. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine and mostly across the state except for some isolated showers about Cape York Peninsula. Light to moderate southeast to southwest winds.Wednesday 7 MayFine and mostly sunny across the state except for some showers about parts of the east coast. Patchy morning frost about the southeast interior. Light to moderate east to southeast winds.Thursday 8 MayAn upper level trough should move eastwards across the southern interior, whilst the high should drift eastwards across Tasmania. Both weather systems should combine to produce some showers and storms about southeast Queensland, more widespread and frequent about the coast. Fine and sunny across the rest of the state except for some isolated showers over the northern tropics in an onshore wind flow.Friday 9 MayThe upper trough should move across Queensland's southeast, whilst the high drifts northwards along the New South Wales coast. Both weather systems should combine to produce showers over the eastern districts south of about Bowen, though mainly near the coast. Fine and mostly sunny across the rest of the state, except for some showers about the northern tropics in an onshore flow.Saturday until MondayA ridge of high pressure should push onshore winds and showers across Queensland's east coast. A new upper level trough should produce some showers as it moves across the southern interior.
