Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 4/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
An intense low pressure system over the Tasman Sea is moving slowly eastwards. A high over Western Australia extends a ridge of high pressure over the north of the State. A weak front will move over the south of the State on Monday, followed by the high which will strengthen and be centred south of the State on Tuesday and Wednesday. Another front will move over western parts of the State on Friday then extend over central and eastern parts on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers west of about Elliston to Oodnadatta, clearing during the evening. Isolated showers south of about Naracoorte, and developing over southern and western coasts in the evening. Cool with mainly light winds, turning light to moderate northwesterly about coastal districts in the evening.Monday 5 MayPossible morning fog patches in the west. Isolated showers extending over the agricultural area, increasing to scattered about the southern coasts and ranges for period during the morning afternoon. Cool to mild with chiefly light winds, tending light to moderate northwest to southwesterly about southern coastal districts.Tuesday 6 MayPossible morning fog patches over the northern agricultural and southern pastoral districts. Morning frost patches in the southeast. The chance of isolated showers south of about Tarcoola to Leigh Creek, but dry over the southern agricultural area apart from isolated showers about the southern coasts of Kangaroo Island and the Fleurieu Peninsula during the morning. Showers more likely about western and Eyre Peninsula coasts. Cool to mild with light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, turning northeasterly in the west.Wednesday 7 MayThe chance of isolated showers about the West Coast and North West Pastoral districts south of about Woomera. Isolated showers over the Lower South East. Generally cool. Mild in the far north. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds.Thursday 8 MayIsolated showers developing west of about Ceduna, increasing to scattered showers west of about Nullarbor. Cool to mild with mainly light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Sunday afternoon to midnight Thursday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the northern agricultural area and western parts of the Northwest Pastoral, 5 to 10 mm over the southern agricultural area and West Coast. Falls of 10 to 20 mm are possible about southern coasts and ranges and also over parts of the West Coast. Less than 2 mm is expected elsewhere.Friday until SundayIsolated showers extending over most parts of the State, increasing to scattered with the passage of a cold front on Friday and Saturday. Isolated showers about the agricultural areas and southern pastoral districts on Sunday. Mild to warm with freshening northern winds ahead of a cooler southwesterly change extending from the west on Friday and Saturday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Monday.Product IDS10033
