Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 3/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure over central Australia is pushing dry, cool air across much of Queensland.
Forecast for the rest of SundayA cool morning with areas of frost about the southern and southeast interior. Mostly fine and sunny, just the chance of some light showers about the Southern Border Ranges and the east coast of Cape York Peninsula. Moderate to fresh southeast to southwest winds.Monday 5 MayCool, fine and dry across most of the state with areas of morning frost through the southern and southeast interior. An onshore flow may produce some isolated showers over Cape York Peninsula.Tuesday 6 MayA high over the Southern Ocean will shift east towards southeastern Australia, maintaining a cool and dry airmass over much of Queensland. Fine and sunny conditions are therefore expected across much of the state with early frosts about the Maranoa and southeastern interior. Isolated shower activity should continue about the very far northern tropics where a moist onshore wind flow persists.Wednesday 7 MayA new upper level trough will most likely enter western Queensland, meanwhile the high should shift slowly eastwards over southeastern Australia extending fresh to possibly strong southeasterly winds along the southern Queensland coast. Showers are therefore likely to develop over the southeast, most likely near the coast, in the strengthening onshore wind flow. Isolated shower activity is expected about the far northern tropics where a moist onshore wind flow persists. Fine and sunny conditions across remaining districts with early frosts about the southeastern interior.Thursday until SaturdayThe upper level trough is likely to shift eastwards across central and southeastern Queensland during the outlook period. And the high should shift slowly eastwards over southeastern Australia and into the Tasman Sea. Showers are therefore likely to increase over southeastern parts of the state as the strengthening onshore wind flow combines with the upper level trough. Showers are likely to continue over the northern tropics in the onshore wind flow and may develop through central parts with the passage of the upper trough. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Sunday.Product IDQ10700
