MELBOURNE - May 2/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over western Victoria will evolve into a low pressure complex as it moves to the east of the State overnight before deepening just east of Bass Strait during Saturday. The low will then move southeastwards over the Tasman sea on Sunday as another cold front is expected to move northeastwards from the Southern Ocean to affect Victoria on Monday, clearing the east by Tuesday morning. Forecast for the rest of FridayAreas of rain tending to showers in the northwest but remaining mostly dry over East Gippsland. Local hail and thunder possible in the west. Snowfalls lowering to 1200 metres. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting gusty south to southwesterly over western areas and then strengthening.Saturday 3 MayAreas of rain over central and eastern districts with possible hail and thunder near the coast. Scattered showers in the west, clearing later over the northwest. Snow above 1300 metres. Mostly cloudy with moderate to fresh and gusty south to southwesterly winds, strong to gale force in south, contracting to the east.Sunday 4 MayScattered showers over southern and mountain areas, widespread at first in East Gippsland. Isolated showers reaching the northern plains. Snowfalls down to 1200 metres. A cold and mostly cloudy day generally fresh southwesterly winds, strong to gale force at first about the Gippsland coast.Monday 5 MayCool to cold and mostly cloudy with isolated showers over southern and mountain districts, becoming scattered in the south as moderate to fresh west to northwest winds shift southwesterly. Isolated show showers on the peaks.Tuesday 6 MayIsolated showers in the south, scattered over Gippsland and falling as snow above 1200 meters. Showers easing in the west.
