Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 1/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong cold front will move over the State overnight and on Friday. A ridge of high pressure will develop over the north of the State following the front. A weak front will move over the south of the State on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers over the agricultural area and West Coast district, increasing to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the southern agricultural area and near western coasts during the evening. Cool with light to moderate northwesterly winds, shifting west to southwesterly in the south and west, becoming locally strong near far western coasts.Friday 2 MayIsolated showers developing south of about Moomba to Cook, increasing to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms south of about Nullarbor to Cameron Corner. Showers increasing to widespread over coasts and ranges and parts of the Mid North, Mount Lofty Ranges, southern Flinders and Lower South East districts. Small hail over the agricultural area and south of the Flinders and Pastoral districts. Showers easing away from the coast and ranges in the evening. Cool to cold with fresh to strong southwesterly winds extending throughout.Saturday 3 MayIsolated thunderstorms and small hail east of about Port Lincoln to Leigh Creek in the early morning. Scattered showers over coasts and ranges and over western districts south of about Coober Pedy, becoming isolated in the afternoon. Isolated showers over the remainder, chiefly morning. Cool to cold with light to moderate southwesterly winds, fresh at times in the south.Sunday 4 MayEarly frost over and to the east of the Mount Lofty and Flinders ranges to the south of about Hawker. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area and West Coast district, contracting to southern coasts in the afternoon. The chance of isolated afternoon showers over the Northwest Pastoral and West Coast districts. Cool with mainly light winds, turning light to moderate northwesterly about the coasts in the evening.Monday 5 May
Isolated showers developing over the southern agricultural area, increasing to scattered near southern coasts. Cool to mild with chiefly light winds, tending light to moderate northwest to southwesterly near southern coasts.
Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday afternoon to midnight Monday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm over the agricultural area, increasing to 20 to 50 mm near coasts and ranges and over parts of the Mid North, Mount Lofty Ranges, southern Flinders and Lower South East districts. Falls of 1 to 5 mm are expected over the remainder.
Tuesday until ThursdayIsolated showers south of about Leigh Creek, contracting to the west and south on Wednesday and Thursday. Cool to mild with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Friday.Product IDS10033
