MELBOURNE - Apr 30/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak ridge of high pressure has developed across New South Wales in the wake of yesterday's cold front, promoting generally stable weather conditions today. The presence of this ridge will be short-lived, however, as the next frontal system is rapidly approaching from the Southern Ocean. This system is expected to reach western parts of the state early Friday, with a complex low developing on the front as it continues east through the day. A significant cold outbreak is forecast to accompany this development, with vigorous winds likely to affect many districts through the weekend as the low deepens rapidly over the Tasman Sea. Conditions should ease later on Sunday as another high moves across from the west. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers along the northern coast, possibly extending to the adjacent tablelands. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to southwesterly winds in the east, fresh along the coast at first, tending generally light and variable inland.Friday 2 MayFine in the east, apart from the chance of early showers about the northern coast. Rain areas and possible thunderstorms in the west, extending through central parts later in the day. Snow showers developing on higher parts of the Alps. West to northwesterly winds, fresh and gusty in many areas, turning colder southwesterly in the west.Saturday 3 MayFine in the far west. Showers or rain areas elsewhere, contracting east through the day. Snow showers on the Alps to around 1200 metres, and possibly about high parts of the ACT, Central Tablelands and Northern Tablelands.
