Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 30/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high west of Perth extends a ridge of high pressure over northern South Australia. A strong cold front will move over southeastern parts of the State overnight Thursday into Friday. The high will move across South Australia during the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayPossible isolated showers about the West Coast district until early evening, mainly west of Ceduna. Partly cloudy over southern parts of the State and mostly clear in the north. Cool to cold overnight with mainly light and variable winds.Thursday 1 MayPossible early morning frost over the South East districts. Isolated showers developing about the West Coast district and Eyre Peninsula during the afternoon, extending over the remainder of the agricultural areas during the evening. Showers increasing to scattered and possible thunderstorms about southern and western coasts during the evening. Cool to mild throughout with light northwesterly winds, becoming moderate to fresh west to southwesterly during the day, reaching strong about the coastal waters west of Elliston in the evening.Friday 2 MayScattered showers over the agricultural area and Pastoral districts south of about Woomera to Cameron Corner, increasing to widespread showers mainly over central districts and southern Eyre Peninsula with and following the passage of a cold front. Isolated showers extending to areas south of about Oak Valley, Coober Pedy to Birdsville. Possible isolated thunderstorms and small hail south of about Streaky Bay, Port Augusta and Broken Hill. Cool to cold with fresh to strong southwesterly winds extending throughout.Saturday 3 MayScattered morning showers about coastal areas west of about Murray Bridge, possibly persisting into the afternoon over the West Coast district. Isolated showers over the remainder of the agricultural area and southern Pastoral districts, contracting to coastal areas in the evening. Cool to cold with light to moderate southwesterly winds, fresh at times in the south.Sunday 4 MayIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area and the western coast. Cool to mild with mainly light winds, turning light to moderate northwesterly about the coasts in the evening. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday night to midnight Sunday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm over the northern agricultural area and far south of the pastoral districts and 10 to 20 mm over the southern agricultural area, increasing to 20 to 40 mm about the coasts and ranges with isolated falls up to 50 mm. Less than 2 mm over the far north.Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers about southern agricultural areas and the western coast, gradually contracting to southern coasts by mid-week. Possible isolated showers developing in the west on Wednesday. Cool to mild with light to moderate southerly winds turning southeast to northeasterly later in the period.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Thursday.Product IDS10033
