Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 29/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over WA extends a ridge into western New South Wales while a cold front is moving through the east and northeast of the state. The ridge will extend further eastwards towards the coast later today and through tomorrow. The next front is expected to cross the west of the state on Friday and the remainder on Saturday, bringing a colder and vigorous southwesterly airstream. A strong low pressure system is expected to develop east of Bass Strait.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayDry, although partly cloudy, in the west. Isolated showers in the southeast, falling as snow about the Alpine peaks. Rain areas in the northeast contracting to the far northeast of the state by the evening. Southwest to southeast winds, extending through the northeast later.Thursday 1 MayIsolated showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges. Dry and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds tending variable inland.Friday 2 MayIsolated showers on the north coast and ranges, clearing. Rain areas extending from the west through the inland, falling as snow above 1600 metres. West to northwesterly winds, tending colder southwesterly in the far west.Saturday 3 MayDry in the far northwest. Areas of rain or showers over most of the remainder, slowly contracting east. Colder with fresh to strong northwest to southwest winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Wednesday.Product IDN10031
