Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 29/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front over central Victoria will clear the far east of the State tonight. A high pressure ridge will extend across Victoria late Wednesday with another cold front approaching western Victoria Thursday night. This front will sweep across Victoria on Friday leaving a cold and gusty southwesterly airstream in its wake. A low pressure system is expected to develop to the east of Victoria during Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayRain over the east. Scattered showers over the southwest. Isolated showers clearing over the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms possible in the southwest. Moderate to fresh westerly winds.Wednesday 30 AprilRain clearing from the east early in the morning. Scattered showers, falling as snow above 1500 metres, and isolated thunderstorms across southern and mountain districts, contracting to the coast and clearing later. A cool to cold day with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds gradually easing from the west.Fire Danger -  Low to Moderate.Thursday 1 MayMorning fog and frost in the east. A dry day but rain developing at night in the far southwest. A cool day with winds tending light to moderate northwesterlyFriday 2 MayAreas of rain in the west extending to the east during the late morning and afternoon. Rain easing to scattered showers from the west during the afternoon and evening. Local hail and thunder in the west. Snow above 1000 metres. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting colder and gusty southwesterly from the west during the day.Saturday 3 MayScattered showers in the south, widespread over East Gippsland. Isolated showers elsewhere. Isolated thunderstorms possible over East Gippsland.
