MELBOURNE - Apr 29/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge over northeast New South Wales. This high will weaken and move eastwards as a cold front moves across the state today and Wednesday. The next front is expected to cross the west of the state on Friday and the remainder on Saturday, bringing a colder and vigorous southwesterly airstream. A strong low pressure system is expected to develop east of Bass Strait. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayRain areas extending through the inland, possibly reaching southern coastal districts later tonight. Northeast to northwesterly winds ahead of a gusty west to southwesterly change in the southwest.Wednesday 30 AprilDry in the far southwest. Rain areas elsewhere contracting to the northeast of the state by the afternoon, falling as snow about the Alpine peaks. Southwest to southeast winds, extending through the northeast later.Thursday 1 MayIsolated showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges. Dry and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds tending variable inland.Friday 2 MayIsolated showers on the north coast and ranges, clearing. Rain areas extending from the west through the inland, falling as snow above 1600 metres. West to northwesterly winds, tending colder southwesterly in the far west.Saturday 3 MayDry in the far northwest. Areas of rain or showers over most of the remainder, slowly contracting east.
