MELBOURNE - Apr 29/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak cold front will pass over the far south of the state late this evening. A weak high will move over the Bight on Wednesday then a series of fronts will move across the State during Friday and Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayA band of rain northeast of about Oodnadatta to Leigh Creek will contract to the far northeast during the evening. Isolated showers about southern and western coasts, extending over the remainder of the southern agricultural area during the evening and tending scattered about the south of the Lower South East district. Possible isolated thunderstorms over the pastoral districts northeast of about Oodnadatta and also about the Lower South East district later in the evening. Fresh southwest to southerly winds, strong at times about the coasts, then easing later.Wednesday 30 AprilPatchy rain in the far northeast clearing during the morning. Possible isolated showers about the southern agricultural area and west coast, more likely about the Lower South East district, clearing by evening. Cool to mild with light to moderate southwesterly winds.Thursday 1 MayIsolated showers developing about the West Coast district and Eyre Peninsula during the afternoon and extending over the remainder of the agricultural areas and south of the Northwest Pastoral district during the evening, Showers increasing to scattered with possible thunderstorms about southern and western coasts during the evening. Cool to mild throughout with light northwesterly winds, becoming moderate to fresh westerly during the day.Friday 2 MayScattered showers over the agricultural area and isolated showers over the pastoral and the West Coast districts south of about Coober Pedy. Possible thunderstorms and small hail south of about Clare. Cool with fresh west to southwesterly winds.Saturday 3 MayIsolated showers over the agricultural area and southern pastorals tending scattered over the southern agricultural area during the morning. Showers contracting to the southern agricultural area and and western coasts by evening. Cool to mild with light to moderate northwest to southwesterly winds, fresh at times in the south. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday afternoon to midnight Saturday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm over the northern agricultural area and pastoral districts and 10 to 20 mm over the southern agricultural area, increasing to 20 to 40 mm about the coasts and ranges with possible isolated falls up to 50 mm.Sunday until TuesdayIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area with possible showers over the remainder of the agricultural area and the south of the pastorals on Sunday, contracting to coastal regions on Monday then clearing inn the evening. Possible isolated showers developing west of about Coober Pedy to Port Augusta to Port Lincoln during Tuesday.
