MELBOURNE - Apr 28/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over western parts of the State will move eastwards to reach a line Tarcoola to Kingscote late this evening. This front will then move across the remainder of the State on Tuesday. Further fronts will move across the State during Friday and Saturday. Forecast for the rest of MondayPatchy rain developing in the west and about southern coasts during the evening, increasing to areas of rain and possible isolated thunder west of about Tarcoola to Edithburgh tonight. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, ahead of a milder, moderate southwest change near Ceduna moving over remaining western districts during the evening.Tuesday 29 AprilA band of rain extending over most parts of the State during the morning, contracting to the northeast during the afternoon. Isolated showers continuing about southern and western coastal districts following the rain, scattered during the late afternoon about the Lower South East coast. Possible isolated thunderstorms over the pastoral districts north of about Woomera and also about the Lower South East district in the evening. Hot in the northeast with light to moderate northerly winds, ahead of a cooler fresh southwest to southerly change extending throughout, strong at times about the coasts.Wednesday 30 AprilPatchy rain in the far northeast clearing during the morning. Possible isolated showers about the southern agricultural area and west coast, more likely about the Lower South East district, mainly clearing by evening. Cool to mild with light to moderate southwesterly winds.Thursday 1 MayPossible isolated showers developing about the southern agricultural area and west Coast district, increasing to scattered showers with possible thunderstorms about southern coasts in the evening. Cool to mild throughout with light northwesterly winds, becoming moderate to fresh westerly during the day.Friday 2 MayScattered showers over the agricultural area and isolated showers over southern parts of the pastoral and the West Coast district south of about Woomera. Possible thunderstorms about the southern agricultural area with possible small hail south of about Adelaide. Cool with fresh west to southwesterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Monday afternoon to midnight Friday are expected to be 20 to 40 mm over the southern agricultural area with 10 to 20 mm over the remainder of the agricultural area and south of the pastorals. 2 to 10 mm over the remainder. Isolated falls of up to 50 mm are possible about southern coasts and ranges.Saturday until MondayIsolated showers over the agricultural area and southern pastorals, contracting to southern and gulf coastal areas on Monday. Showers tending scattered over the southern agricultural area on Saturday morning.
