Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 25/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure lies along the east coast of Queensland, and a weak surface trough lies over western Queensland. The ridge will be strengthened a little during Sunday by a new high pressure system moving eastwards into the Tasman Sea. An upper level trough will move across southeast Queensland early in the new week.
Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers about most eastern districts, though frequent showers should continue about the North Tropical Coast. Mainly isolated showers and just the chance of some isolated storms over the remaining northern districts. The chance of some isolated storms about the Gold Coast hinterland and the Wide Bay. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds, fresh at times along the tropical east coast.Saturday 26 AprilIsolated showers about the east coast, more widespread north of about Townsville. Mainly isolated showers and storms over the remaining northern tropics, possibly extending into the southern tropical interior. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds, fresh at times along the tropical east coast.Sunday 27 AprilMainly isolated showers about most eastern districts in an onshore flow, with the chance of some isolated storms about the southeast districts as an upper trough passes over the region. Scattered showers and storms about the Gulf of Carpentaria coast. Cloud developing with some isolated light showers over the southern interior.Monday 28 AprilAn onshore flow will continue to produce mainly isolated showers about most eastern districts, whilst the upper trough should allow more widespread showers and storms to develop over the southeast districts. Scattered showers and storms over the Peninsula and the Gulf Country districts. Fine and mostly sunny over the southern and central interior.Tuesday 29 AprilThe upper trough should move offshore early to mid week, whilst the onshore flow should also ease, allowing showers to decrease along most eastern districts. A new surface trough should produce mainly isolated showers and storms as it moves eastwards across southern Queensland during the week.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Saturday.Product IDQ10700
