MELBOURNE - Apr 25/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system well east of Bass Strait will weaken as it crosses the eastern Tasman Sea on Saturday. A cold front crossing waters south of the Bight is forecast to reach far western Victoria early Saturday morning, passing over central districts by early Saturday afternoon then moving east of Victoria by Saturday evening. Another high pressure system will pass just to the south of Victoria on Sunday, reaching the Tasman Sea on Monday as a stronger cold front moves across the Bight towards Victoria. The cold front is forecast to cross Victoria by Tuesday evening. Forecast for the rest of FridayMostly clear, just some high cloud extending over the west. Light to moderate northerly winds, locally fresh over elevated areas and the southwest.Saturday 26 AprilScattered showers developing on and south of the ranges, isolated showers over the north. Showers contracting to the far east by late afternoon. Cool to mild with light to moderate northerly winds freshening over elevated areas and ahead of a southwesterly change that will cross western districts in the morning, reaching the far east by late afternoon.Sunday 27 AprilEarly frost and fog patches inland and isolated showers clearing the far east during the morning. Otherwise a cool to mild and mainly sunny day with generally light southerly winds gradually tending easterly during the day.Monday 28 AprilFine over most areas, but cloud increasing from the west with isolated showers possible late in the day. A mild day with moderate to fresh northerly winds.Tuesday 29 AprilAreas of rain developing over western districts early in the morning, extending to the east by early afternoon. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, locally reaching gale force over the eastern ranges ahead of a west to southwesterly change extending through western and central districts by early afternoon and the east by evening.
