MELBOURNE - Apr 20/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over southeastern New South Wales will drift eastwards today, reaching the central Tasman Sea on Tuesday. A cold front will approach far southwestern Victoria late today crossing the remainder of the State by Tuesday evening. Another cold front is expected to cross Bass Strait late Wednesday and early Thursday with a weak high high pressure system following across Victoria later Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers extending through western and central districts tending to areas of rain over the southwest. Remaining dry over the far north and east. Isolated thunderstorms possible in the far southwest later in the day. Cool to mild and partly cloudy with freshening northerly winds, locally strong about the ranges later.Fire Danger - Moderate to High.Tuesday 22 AprilScattered showers, mainly over southern and mountain districts, contracting eastwards. Fine over the far northwest. Cool to mild with moderate to locally fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting southwest to southerly.Wednesday 23 AprilScattered showers in southern areas becoming isolated and contracting to the far east and southwest during the afternoon. Fine in the north. A cool and partly cloudy day with light to moderate westerly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Thursday 24 AprilIsolated showers in most southern districts but fine over East Gippsland. Fine over northern areas.
