MELBOURNE - Apr 20/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over southern New South Wales will drift eastwards during Monday to reach the central Tasman Sea by Tuesday. A cold front will move across Bass Strait tonight followed by another front which approach far western Victoria late on Monday. This front will cross the State on Tuesday as a weak high pressure system develops over the Bight. Yet another cold front is expected to cross Bass Strait late Wednesday and early Thursday with a high pressure ridge developing over northern Victoria. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers near the western, central and South Gippsland coasts. Fine elsewhere. Light to moderate west to northwesterly winds freshening about parts of the coast.Monday 21 AprilIsolated showers extending through western and central districts but fine over the far north and east. Isolated thunderstorms in the far southwest later in the day. Cool and partly cloudy with freshening northerly winds, becoming strong near the western and central ranges later.Fire Danger - Moderate to High.Tuesday 22 AprilScattered showers, mainly over southern and mountain districts, contracting eastwards. Fine over the far northwest. Cool to mild with moderate to locally fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting southwest to southerly.Wednesday 23 AprilScattered showers in southern areas becoming isolated and contracting to the far east and southwest during the afternoon. Fine in the north. A cool and partly cloudy day with a light to moderate west to southwesterly wind, fresh at times near the coast.Thursday 24 AprilIsolated showers in most southern districts but fine over East Gippsland. Fine over northern areas.
