MELBOURNE - Apr 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system passing just to the south of Tasmania will move over the southern Tasman Sea on Wednesday while maintaining a ridge back to Victoria. This ridge will move over eastern Victoria on Thursday as a weakening cold front slides away to the south of Tasmania. A stronger cold front will rapidly cross Bight waters on Thursday night to reach western Victoria on Friday morning and move through to eastern Victoria in the afternoon. The next high pressure system will cross northern Bight waters then move over Adelaide on Saturday to reach southern NSW early Sunday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers over Gippsland, contracting to the far east. Dry elsewhere. Clear in the north but partly cloudy in the south. Generally light southeasterly winds.Wednesday 16 AprilFine apart from morning fog patches and isolated showers in the far east. Cool to mild with high cloud increasing in the west and light winds.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Thursday 17 AprilLocal morning fog patches then fine and mostly sunny. Light winds.Friday 18 AprilScattered showers developing from the west in the morning to reach eastern areas in the afternoon, mainly affecting southern and mountain districts. Mainly dry in the far northwest. Mild at first with moderate to fresh northwest wind ahead of a cool fresh to locally strong southwesterly change in the west during the morning then extending to the east in the afternoon.Saturday 19 AprilIsolated showers, mainly about the exposed coast.
