MELBOURNE - Apr 11/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system is located just east of Bass Strait and will move northwards to be off the New South Wales south coast by midnight. The low will move away to the northeast during Saturday then eastwards across the Tasman Sea on Sunday, while a high pressure system develops to the south of Perth. On Monday the high will move steadily eastwards across the Bight and extend a a ridge across Tasmania. The high will move south of Tasmania on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayRain areas in the east with locally heavy falls over East Gippsland. Scattered showers elsewhere in southern and mountain areas. Southerly winds, strong near the coast and locally reaching gale force about the eastern ranges and East Gippsland coastal fringe this evening.Saturday 12 AprilWidespread showers over East Gippsland tending to scattered showers over West Gippsland with isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain areas. Fine over the north. Cool to mild with generally moderate to fresh southeasterly winds, strong at first near the coast.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Sunday 13 AprilWidespread showers in East Gippsland. Scattered showers in West Gippsland. Fine over remaining southern and mountain districts and in the north. Cool with light to moderate southeasterly winds, fresh at times near the coast and about the eastern ranges.Monday 14 AprilIsolated showers in Gippsland. Fine over the remainder. Cool to mild with light to moderate southeasterly winds.Tuesday 15 AprilEarly fog patches. Isolated showers in southern and mountain districts, scattered in Gippsland.
