Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 10/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure over eastern Victoria will continue to track eastwards this morning and develop into a low pressure system over eastern Bass Strait. The low will deepen this afternoon and move northwards to be off the New South Wales south coast by midnight. The low will move away to the northeast during Saturday then eastwards across the Tasman Sea on Sunday while a high pressure system develops to the south of Perth. On Monday the high will move steadily eastwards and extend a a ridge across Tasmania.
Forecast for the rest of FridayRain areas in the east with locally heavy falls developing over East Gippsland during the afternoon. Scattered showers elsewhere in southern and mountain areas tending to rain in the Central district during the day. Isolated showers over the northwest and isolated afternoon thunderstorms possible across the northeastern plains. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southerly winds, becoming strong near the coast in the afternoon. Winds locally reaching gale force about the eastern ranges and East Gippsland coastal fringe this evening.Fire Danger -  Low to Moderate, reaching High in the northwest.Saturday 12 AprilRain areas over East Gippsland with locally heavy falls during the morning. Scattered showers over West Gippsland with isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain areas. Fine over the north. Cool to mild with generally moderate to fresh southeasterly winds, strong at first near the coast.Sunday 13 AprilRain areas in East Gippsland. Scattered showers in West Gippsland. Isolated showers in remaining southern areas but fine over the north. Cool with light to moderate southeasterly winds, fresh at times near the coast and about the eastern ranges.Monday 14 AprilScattered showers in East Gippsland. Isolated showers in remaining southern areas. Fine over the north.
