MELBOURNE - Apr 10/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over western NSW and Victoria will move slowly to the east today with showers associated. A low pressure system is expected to develop east of Bass Strait during the day, then deepen and move slowly to the north/northeast this evening, likely bringing gale force winds and possible heavy rain to the South Coast. The low is forecast to continue to move to the north/northeast during Saturday, with strong to gale force southerly winds and widespread showers spreading north to central coastal districts. The low is expected to move slowly east then southeast away from the coast during Sunday with winds gradually easing. A southeast stream will persist over the state early next week with a few showers about the coast and eastern ranges expected. Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers or rain areas in the southeast third of the state possibly heavy on the south coast this evening. Isolated showers and drizzle patches over most remaining districts though generally fine in the far northwest and in the Northern Rivers. The chance of thunderstorms in the eastern half, chiefly afternoon. Morning fog areas. Northeast to northwesterly winds, turning southwesterly, and becoming strong to gale force on the South Coast this evening.Saturday 12 AprilIsolated showers in the eastern half, tending scattered to widespread on the central and southern coasts and possibly heavy. The chance of thunderstorms near the northern and central coasts. Partly cloudy in the west. Southeast to southwesterly winds, strong to gale force near central and southern parts of the coast. Dangerous surf conditions.Sunday 13 AprilIsolated showers in the east tending scattered on the southern half of the coast. Partly cloudy in the western and central parts. Southeast to southwesterly winds. Dangerous surf conditions.Monday 14 AprilIsolated showers coast and adjacent ranges tending scattered on the southern and central coastal fringe. Partly cloudy elsewhere.
