MELBOURNE - Apr 10/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure over western Victoria will move eastwards during tonight and Friday. An associated low pressure system is expected to develop near the southern New South Wales coast during Friday night before deepening on Saturday. The low will move slowly eastwards on Sunday while a high pressure system develops to the south of Perth. On Monday the high will move steadily eastwards and extend a a ridge across Tasmania. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayRain, mainly over northern and eastern areas. Local heavy falls possible over the far north and northeast ranges. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the northwest. Light to moderate east to northeasterly winds tending southerly in the west later.Friday 11 AprilRain areas in the east with locally heavy falls contracting to Gippsland during the morning. Scattered showers elsewhere in southern and mountain areas tending to rain in the Central district during the day. Isolated showers elsewhere. Cool to mild with light winds tending fresh southwesterly from the west and becoming strong near the coast.Fire Danger - Low to Moderate, reaching High in the northwest.Saturday 12 AprilRain areas over East Gippsland with locally heavy falls. Scattered showers over West Gippsland with isolated showers over southern and mountain areas. Fine over the north. Cool to mild with generally moderate to fresh southeasterly winds, possibly strong near the Gippsland coast.Sunday 13 AprilRain areas in East Gippsland. Scattered showers in West Gippsland. Isolated showers in remaining southern areas but fine over the north. Cool with a light to moderate southeasterly wind, fresh at times near the coast.Monday 14 AprilScattered showers in East Gippsland. Isolated showers in remaining southern areas. Fine over the north.
