MELBOURNE - Apr 9/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system near northern Spencer Gulf will move southeastwards to be over northern Victoria this afternoon, and over waters east of Victoria on Saturday night. A ridge of high pressure will develop over the west of the State in the wake of the low. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayPatchy rain over central parts of the state, moving to the eastern border around the middle of the day. Areas of rain until late morning, mostly confined to a band over Whyalla, Clare and Lameroo with possible heavy falls and the chance of local flooding. Rain easing to isolated showers from the west during the day. Possible isolated thunderstorms mainly over the Flinders district and southern parts of the Pastoral districts, east of about Woomera until late afternoon. Morning fog. Cool to mild, grading to warm in the far northeast. Light and variable winds, becoming light to moderate southwesterly from the west during the day, freshening near the coasts and in the east during the afternoon.Friday 11 AprilIsolated showers, scattered over the agricultural area to the east of Cleve during the morning. Showers contracting to the coasts in the evening. Cool in the south grading to mild to warm in the far northeast. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Saturday 12 AprilIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area and remaining coasts. Cool in the south grading to mild in the far northeast with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Sunday 13 April The chance of isolated showers over the southern agricultural area. Cool generally with mainly moderate southwest to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday morning to midnight Sunday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm, decreasing to less than 2 mm over the Pastoral districts. Rain at first this morning, mainly over the northern agricultural area, is likely to result in further falls of 5 to 20 mm with local heavier falls of 20 to 40 mm still possible.
