MELBOURNE - Apr 9/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge into northeast New South Wales, while a broad trough lies near the western border. The high is forecast to weaken during Thursday, with a low centre developing within the trough as it tracks slowly east. This low is expected to deepen when it reaches the coast near the Victorian border during Friday, and should then become slow-moving through the weekend as the next ridge pushes into the state from the west. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayAreas of rain over the southern half, more widespread over the southern inland and locally moderate to heavy. Patchy rain or isolated showers extending further to the northeast later in the day but remaining dry on the north coast. The chance of thunderstorms in the west, chiefly afternoon and evening. Early fog patches in the east. Northeast to northwesterly winds, freshening in the south and west.Friday 11 AprilAreas of rain in central and eastern districts, more widespread in the southeast. Conditions easing to scattered showers during the day in most areas, but continuing as rain in parts of the southeast. The chance of thunderstorms in southern, central and eastern districts. Northeast to northwesterly winds, turning fresh southwesterly in the west.Saturday 12 AprilIsolated showers in the east, more likely in the southeast, and tending to rain areas on the South Coast with possible heavy falls. Possible thunderstorms near the northern coast. Fine in the west. Northwest to southwesterly winds.Sunday 13 AprilThe chance of showers in the east, more likely near the coast. Fine in the west.
