MELBOURNE - Apr 9/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow moving trough of low pressure over South Australia is expected to deepen and cross Victoria on Thursday and Friday. An associated low pressure system is expected to develop near Eastern Bass Strait during Friday night before deepening on Saturday. The low will move slowly eastwards on Sunday while a high pressure system develops to the south of Perth. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayRain areas, particularly over northern districts. Locally heavy falls possible over the northwest. Generally light to moderate east to northeasterly winds.Thursday 10 AprilRain. Local heavy falls possible in northern and central areas. Isolated thunderstorms developing over the northwest during the afternoon. A cool to mild and cloudy day with generally light to moderate east to northeasterly winds tending southerly in the west later.Fire Danger - Low to Moderate.Friday 11 AprilRain areas with locally heavy falls contracting to the southeast and the Central district. Showers to follow, isolated over the northwest. Generally mild with light winds tending fresh southwesterly from the west.Saturday 12 AprilRain areas over Gippsland with locally heavy falls. Scattered showers over remaining southern and mountain districts tending isolated over northern areas although fine over the far northwest. Cool to mild with generally moderate to fresh southeasterly winds, possibly strong near the Gippsland coast.Sunday 13 AprilWidespread showers in East Gippsland. Isolated showers in remaining southern areas but fine over the north.
