MELBOURNE - Apr 8/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is over the Tasman Sea. A slow moving trough of low pressure over South Australia is expected to cross Victoria on Thursday and Friday. A low pressure centre is expected to develop on the trough and is likely to deepen over Bass Strait on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayRain areas contracting to northern districts during the afternoon with some heavy falls possible. Scattered showers elsewhere, becoming isolated during the afternoon. A cool to mild and cloudy day with generally light to moderate east to northeasterly winds.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Thursday 10 AprilAreas of rain extending to most areas during the day with local heavy falls possible. Isolated thunderstorms developing over the northwest during the afternoon. A cool to mild and cloudy day with generally light to moderate east to northeasterly winds.Friday 11 AprilRain areas contracting to the northeast. Showers to follow, particularly through south central Victoria. Generally mild with light winds tending fresh southwesterly over the west.Saturday 12 AprilScattered showers, mainly over southern and eastern districts and tending to rain areas over the northeast. The chance of thunderstorms over the north.
